Pilates has helped this client work through arthritis in her hip, get active, and strengthen her core and obliques!
1. What are three things you like best about the center Studio?
a) I love my motivator/drill sergeant/circus ring master hard core teacher — Mary Jo —she keeps me going.
b) The ambiance is pleasant and relaxed.
c) The discipline makes me feel great! I have become stronger and more aware of my body, which has undoubtedly saved me from three bad falls in the last three years.
2. How did it feel when you first started lessons at the center?
Difficult. I struggled to master the exercises, and I found it very tricky to concentrate on breathing and moving correctly, while still holding my body how I should. My abdominal were sore for weeks!
3. How has Pilates helped you reach your Health and Fitness Goals?
I feel we are postponing a serious outcome of my arthritic challenge by strengthening the muscles around a compromised joint—and that is solely from Pilates. I feel Pilates contributes to my well being and improves my general health and joie de vivre.
4. If you had a friend who was interested in starting Pilates but wasn’t quite sure about it, what advice would you give him/her?
Make the time, find the money and just do it!!
