Well, it’s December 5 and the holidays are upon us. Parties and shopping and other commitments can cut into your fitness and health routines big time.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Here are six things you can do Right Now to keep you on track for the rest of the year.

1.  Set Your Intention
What is it you’d like to accomplish this year?  Can you set some realistic goals for the next three weeks that allow for the occasional party treat or a shorter workout?

2.  Eat Breakfast
Studies show that eating breakfast stabilizes your blood sugar and can help avoid a binge later in the day.  Include some protein and some fat in your meal. This will keep you satisfied longer.

3.  Have a Salad Every Day
Eating a large salad once a day will keep you on track with your daily servings of vegetables.  Add some lean protein like chicken or fish and some healthy fats like walnuts or sunflower seeds.

4.  Drink Water
Dehydration can mask itself as hunger.  Staying hydrated will help take the edge off and help you avoid eating something you really don’t want to have.

5.  Be Different
Why are you baking up a storm if you are trying to watch your weight?  It’s ok to bring in a plate of crispy fresh veggies and dip, or contribute a bowl of delicious fruit to your office goodie stash. People will thank you for sharing the gift of healthy food with them.

6. Call Your Best Friend
Enlist the help of a buddy to keep you accountable and motivated.  Share your intentions and arrange to have a daily check in.  When it comes to staying healthy, having the support of others goes a long way towards achieving your goals.

These six simple steps will leave you satisfied with the knowledge that you’ve done some really good things for yourself this holiday season.

Peace and Love,
